As you know MUCC is opening for Guns N’ Roses’ Japan tour, the following is a translation of a Japanese fan’s Myspace post about the concert. It’s fucking pathetic what the GNR fans did to them. Fans did this to the two opening acts for Dir en Grey in Baltimore. Asshole fanboys like this make all of us look bad. If you are at a show and are next to someone booing the openers, tell them to shut thefuck up and show some god damn class. What would Slash say?
The whole time that mucc was on, all the guns fans sat in the front rows, and didn’t let any of the mucc fans in. Ok… I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but at most live halls the audience is actually sitting on seats – you usually don’t see them because they’re all standing up (they have to be). Well… you can guess what they did. Every one of them sat there and refused to move, chattering amongst themselves and booing loudly. Security started saying “Please stand up! While there’s a musical performance on stage you must be standing at all times!” This of course was greeted with much disgruntlement, and many people left. Even after poor Tatsurou said a very humble, almost apologetic MC, during the parts where it was quiet there were guys shouting things like “Piss off! You suck! Break up already!” etc. etc. and quote, “every time the vocalist heard things like that his face would turn ashen – the drummer looked like he wanted to run away”. As soon as people started throwing bottles at the stage and interfering with the equipment Miya edged over to Tatsurou, said something into his ear, Tatsu nodded, and they stopped and the other members came over and had a group huddle. They immediately went back to playing afterwards, but Tatsurou was shaking so bad that he couldn’t even put the mike back on the mike stand properly.
To make matters even more nightmarish, G+R were SO LATE that mucc were forced to go out and do an ENCORE, which was replied with more shouts of “Not this crap again! You can’t be serious! Fuck off and go home already!!”Do you know what the best part of all this shit was though?
As they come on to do their encore amidst all the jeering, Tatsurou raises his mike and says “I’m sorry but, instead of background music, please bear with us just a little while longer!”, presses his hands together and bows to the floor. At this, even the guys who were booing became silent.
Hi, I’m a huge fan of MUCC (I was so happy to see them at JRock Revolution) and can’t believe this happened to them.

This made me really piss off. MUCC is one of my absolute favorite bands, and I saw them live in March from second row in Finlans. Oh god, can’t those stupid GNR fans give even a small respect on MUCC? Of course they are not the main performer, but fuck, they are DAMN GOOD BAND and very talented musicians. Argh. I’m not even a fan of MUCC, but I do sometimes listen their music and I have much friends that admire them so much, that they could kiss ground under the MUCC members feet!
So, when I read all that shit what happened to MUCC, the blood run away from my face and I felt so sick. That’s just so awful! How could some people act so STUPID?! I didn’t even be there, but I hate those people from all my heart. I so hate them!
And if I would have been there, I obviously had kicked theis rosy asses.
I do know that my words doesn’t really matter, but I hope I have gave you guys a tip about that there really IS people all over the world who really care things like this, even if they wouldn’t be MUCC fans.

Pretty rude is true. They do have strange music, would probably help if I knew what they were saying, but the Japanese that were booing probably knew what the songs were about.

That behaviour was out of order, I hope they felt bad when Tatsurou-san pretty much apologised.
This is aimed at mimidori – that is your personal opinion, if someone doesn’t like a band that you like doesn’t make them wrong, it’s called differences in personal taste. Close minded has nothing to do with it unless they chose to dislike MUCC for petty reasons such as looks, or that they are Japanese.

MUCC should know that they’re an awesome band and this scenario was must unfortunate and terrible, but there still are countless fans out there who loves them and appreciate their music more than anything else, myself included.

This is a worst fear of mine..Where American music is, There are alway close-minded people who won’t listen to anything labeled “different”. It’s precisely why there aren’t more concerts of Asian artists here. I’m an Italian girl and I’ve been a GNR fan ever since I was 6. I know MUCC too, but I sort of stopped listening to Japanese music after I got into Korean music. However, reading all this was really heartbreaking, people with no manners should just be shot dead, they’re such a waste of space and oxygen. I’ve been to numerous concerts and I had to go through terrible openings, but I would never dare to disrespect and bring down an artist, they’re doing their job after all.
Oh, I forgot. It’s no big news that GNR were late. They made us wait for 3 hours in Italy, and it was a hot summer day. Sunburnt. It’s always Axl’s fault.

MUCC, you’re the best!
Ok, I grew up in the 80s and was a fan of GnR. Not anymore. If this is the kind of fancircle they turn out I don’t even want to listen to them anymore. I’m not familiar with MUCC yet, but I will be by the end of today. For them to have gone on playing to such a hostile audience shows their true love for their art. I actually cried when I head they were so shook up about this. I hope that they can put such an awful thing behind them.
First, I wanna make clear that I’m not a native English speaker, so please don’t mind mistakes that are probably in my text.
So, I read this translation and I was shocked.
Firstly, the thought of a faked text to start kind of rumor surfaced my mind.
But then I thought that this is too detailed and there is too much emotion in it to be a stupid joke.
I personally visited a Mucc concert in Saarbrücken/Germany this year and it was kind of mindblowing experience that gave me a special feeling of living from my core for the first time.
I’m not a hysteric or fanatic fangirl that idolizes every bandmember and every single song by them and so I can say without lying that this was caused by their music and ‘ambience/performence’ and not by any other thing and that they are a great band and a wonderful live band.
But I also can say that it should be impossible to face this when someone gives them the cold shoulder from the beginning until the end.
Well, I only want to express that I’m totally sure that Mucc isn’t the one to blame for what happened, the people there, who didn’t give them a chance, are the ones!
I know that a band can’t be liked by everyone, but a band that is so much into its music and works so hard should get a little bit respect and a chance . I don’t want a person (like the ones there) to cheer for them or getting a fan, standing up and listening would be totally enough in my opinion.
When I read about the assumed age of the people there I got my second shock.
If it’s true that them were around 30, their behaviour makes me even sadder.
I’m ‘only’ 17 years old and I’m able to face the idiocy of such behaviour already.
Them had nearly the double lifetime to think about this or build up a character that can’t allow this doing.
I really hope that these people feel intense shame now!
And on the other hand I’m very proud of Mucc that they didn’t give up and stayed polite and of Tatsurou that he had the strength for his action in the end!
I can’t blame GNR for doing nothing, because I don’t know if they really didn’t do something about it or if they’ve known about it (because it’s said that they came too late).

MUCC performed here at Otakon 2006 in Baltimore, Maryland and they were the best! No one booed at them..everyone scream that Tatsurou was always smiling and I know everyone where I saw them performed like them and everyone yelled to hear them play again. And they did three more songs for the fans when they came back on stage…MUCC is so nice they should have not been booed like that. Felt so pissed and sad when I read this. That is so 100% disrespect!

GN’R is my favotrite band. And I totally disagree with these “fans” who made that shit. I like MUCC, too and I think it was even the best opening on the 2007 tour.

Thats what on on the Gun N’ Roses website. I had a WTF moment after reading this. They didnt say any thing about MUCC or how they were direspected by the Gn’R fans.
On the other hand , that’s not really that bad. I’ve seen bands have stuff on fire thrown at them. Most people go to concerts to see the main act , not the supporting acts.
I understand having respect for band s, but of all the stuff that has happened to an opening act , why is this the only one singled out. It happens at alot of concerts to alot of bands.

All this drama and shit just PROVES that when you mix fanbases of American Bands and J-Rock Bands the results are volatile. I don’t know much about either one of these music groups however that kind of attitude towards MUCC is absolutely disgraceful. I honestly don’t believe I could have taken it as well as the members of MUCC did…I would have wanted to leave the second I got such a negative response.
Personally I think GnR should have apologized to MUCC on behalf of their fans for treating them so terribly.

In japan, some people who like 洋楽(western bands) have a really snobby attitude towards virtually any and all domestic bands simply because they’re Japanese, sometimes regardless of whether the Japanese bands are good or not…I swear some people see a Japanese/Asian face in the band and their ears shut off.
I believe there was a festival once where Marilyn Manson fans of a similar nature were hassling Kirito, who in turn gave a speech in which he handed them their asses on a platter. The Marilyn Manson fans incident is also even more retarded because he was influenced by Japanese acts such as hide. Just like the Mucc/GNR thing is stupid because in insulting Mucc, they’re also insulting their beloved GnR who personally picked Mucc as the opener.
That said, GNR/Mucc does seem to be kind of a mismatch for the fans, but that’s no excuse for the fans to be asshats to each other or to the band.
that’s one reason why I never go to festivals in Japan, many festivals bring in foreign bands and a lot of people go there to see a lot of these foreign acts at once because otherwise it would be ridiculously expensive to see them individually/some bands don’t have a big enough fan base across japan to actually tour. the domestic acts get kinda slighted, and that plus the mass of people gathering together with similar attitudes to what I mentioned above just doesn’t sound like a pleasant experience if you are actually interested in a domestic group.
MUCC is lovely, and so is their music, I’d love to watch them live.

Wow… Mukku as a support band? I never would’ve thought… but yeah, that’s awesome that they actually apologized to the fans. I mean, it’s awful that the fans did that, but it was very mature and forgiving (maybe too forgiving) of MUCC to do that. Gotta hand it to them…
